Come and Plant Some Bulbs and Help the Pollinators this Sunday!

We are calling for volunteers to come and help us plant bulbs around Hawkesbury Upton;

Sunday 20th October at 10.00am - meet at the Village Hall car park

Bulbs will be provided but please bring your own trowel or spade.

Areas for planting will be as follows: open space at Birgage Road, Sandpits Lane (under the tree), around the Plain and The Pound, around the trees in the Cricket Field, On the banks in the Village Hall Car park, around the Oak Tree by the Pool, Under the Notice Board and in the Community Garden.

Caroline Gaze, South Gloucestershire Biodiversity Officer, offers some planting tips: "Make sure the bulbs are planting with the 'nose', pointy bit, facing upwards. I find it more efficient to dig a larger hole and plant a group of bulbs together, but not touching, in that hole rather than digging a hole for every individual bulb. This looks more natural as well as being time efficient. You can't go too wrong with bulb planting!"

If you have any questions please contact the Clerk at clerk@hawkesbury-pc.gov.uk

We hope for kind weather and look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
